Hikaru Fujii is new CEO of TTID

Following six successful years as Head of TTID Europe, Keiji Nakamura is now returning home to Japan. His successor will be 33-year-old Hikaru Fujii. We spoke to him about his plans for the future.

Born in 1976, Hikaru Fujii joined the Toyota Tsusho Corporation from a Japanese IT company. He has been CEO of TTID Europe since 1 April 2010.

NL: Mr Fujii, one always expects new measures from a new CEO. What do you have your eye on? What would you like to change?

H. F.:First of all, I would like to thank my predecessor, Keiji Nakamura. In the six years he led TTID Europe, he was able to make many changes and achieved great things. My feeling is that I am taking over a very tight ship. The basic orientation is correct. We have good partners. The team is strong and very motivated. Here I see great potential for the future. You know, I was myself in a small IT company. My DNA, so to speak, includes the combination of challenge and passion. These are elements that I also see here.

NL: What in particular are you thinking of?

H. F.: To return to your original question. You are right, for sure - every CEO, every business leader has a particular view of things and wants to see these things implemented. Our own experience, of course, plays a decisive role. My experience has taught me that customer satisfaction is the most valuable asset of any company. So we have to work on this area. That is, we must improve our own value to our customers.

NL: How do you aim to achieve that?

H.F.: We must increase our quality even further. By that I mean, first of all, the functionality and usability of our mobile barcode terminals. But this is not enough on its own. Secondly, we also need to develop new IT solutions that make our offer more attractive. And thirdly, in my view, it is essential that we develop the quality of our customer service. As I have already said, customer satisfaction is the key to success.

NL: So you see TTID working even more closely with its customers in the future?

H. F.: Yes, exactly. TTID needs to be perceived as a reliable and indispensable partner for mobile data collection solutions. This responsibility applies as much to existing customers as it does to future customers. This is what we need to work on, and I am delighted to accept this challenge together with my new colleagues and partners.

NL: Mr Fujii, many thanks for the interview.
